These are small programs that can be installed on your computer either via a cookie or other means. Now to disable your cookies wouldn't allow you to do many of the things you can do, yet some are set to track your movements around the net and slow your computer down. Other items such as Adware, again track where you travel on the net and slow your computer down. If you think your computer is getting slower and slower, then you may have either a virus (see above) or an adware or spyware problem on your machine. Luckily there is an easy fix. You can help yourself avoid a lot of greif with two programs, One is called Adaware, the other is Spybot search & destroy. Download Adaware here - Lavasoft - and Spybot from here - Spybot -

There are two good things about these programs:

• 2. THEY ARE FREE

These programs like anti-virus software need regular updates, which you can do right before you run them. So when you log onto the net, or just before you log off, open the programs and get any updates and install them. Once you have logged off the net, run the programs. They will go through your entire hard drive (so depending on the speed of your harddrive and your system will determine how long it takes for them to search the drive(s)), and find anything that is Aware or Spy ware), and system files, registry everything. It will then find everything that has been installed which it's "virus" like definitions determine to be SPYWARE. You have the option of sectioning off, and saving it safely, the material (in case you may need some of it) but in my experience I have let it just remove everything and never had a problem.

These are programs you should run after you log off the net each time, and if not for sure at least once a week. It will keep your PC Running a whole lot smoother and faster.
